In this session, we're focusing on onboarding new hires and how to setup a journey for it.

Suggestion? Don't overthink it. It doesn't have to be complex. Setup for success?

1. Start mapping up what you know you have and think you want
2. Build it
3. Test it
4. Execute - figure out what's working, iterate and execute again
5. Success.

It's not going to be perfect to begin with. Nothing is. You get to perfection by iteration. You collect feedback from stakeholders who have responsibilities in the journey and travellers moving through it.

But before you know it, you will have a better process than 99% of your peers resulting in improved productivity & performance (which happens to be the key goals for most in 2024).

Understanding the Basics:

Onboarding new employees can be challenging, but at 50skills, we've developed a straightforward method. We focus on essential steps that ensure a smooth transition for new team members.

Communication is Key:

From the moment a new hire accepts the job, we keep the lines of communication open. We use emails and Slack messages to introduce them to our systems, team, and the overall workflow.

Role-Specific Tool Access:

Every role requires different tools and resources. We make sure our new hires have access to what they need right from the start. This is determined through forms filled out by their supervisors, detailing the necessary subscriptions and tools for their specific roles.

Learning and Interaction:

Integrating learning with team interaction is crucial in our onboarding process. We provide training programs and product testing to help new hires understand their roles and responsibilities. This includes everything from company background videos to detailed courses on our products.

The New Hire Buddy Program:

We pair new hires with a 'buddy' within the company. This buddy helps with orientation, understanding our culture, and overall integration into the team. It's a personal touch that makes a big difference.

Feedback for Improvement:

Feedback is vital for us. We encourage new hires to share their onboarding experiences, which helps us continuously improve our process. We use this feedback to make each new hire's experience better than the last.
